THE BOLTON NEWS REVIEW 29/1/2010

Plenty of laughs at a great Panto

Babes in the Wood,  The Halliwell Theatre Company,
Harvey Street,  Bolton

WHEN you see a cast so obviously enjoying what they do then it's impossible not to enjoy it too.
The enthusiasm of every single member of the production was plain to see.  Each one of them was having a ball  and that enthusiasm was infectious.
It wasn't long before the audience was laughing at the cheesy jokes' some with for Bolton references thrown in for good measure – and joining  in  with typical pantomime traditions including a  sing song.
Amanda Lloyd's expertise in the wardrobe department meant there were plenty of extravagant costumes to admire.  It was great to see so many costume changes in one production.
There were songs galore and it was easy to see why Eleanor Malloy was cast as Maid Marion.  She has a beautiful singing voice and belted out some very lively numbers with ease - as did Erica Burgan who played her love interest Robin Hood.
In true pantomime 'style there is the dame, this time in the form of Nurse Nora, a character Alan Edgington had down to perfection and Amber Rowland and Eoise Irlam were super as the babes Jack and Jill.
Mark Sheridan kept the audience giggling as Humphrey as did his sidekick, Steve Howarth playing his feckless partner in crime.  A special mention must go to   the chorus,    t he girls did wonderfully well, particularly the tiny tots.
